Liz + Darren in Capitola, CA

undefined When we left Oakland headed to Capitola for Liz and Darren's wedding, I had no idea of the outrageously fun wedding and dance party that were in store for us.  It had been raining on and off, our photo assistant Marina wasn't feeling well and the overcast Bay Area weather were making this LA native a little gloomy.  However, when we arrived, the sun was peeking out from behind the puffy white clouds, the garden at the Monarch Cove Inn had flowers blooming everywhere, and we felt like we were stepping into the Secret Garden, where everything was sunshine and happy.  Liz looked absolutely gorgeous, and although she was a little nervous before the ceremony, as soon as she saw Darren, she was all smiles and laughs.  We were able to sneak these two away for some portraits on the beach, and they were so sweet and playful with one another.

As for the party, you may remember Liz's sister Mary's dance solo from the photo booth...  Well, the robot was only the beginning of a dance party that ranged from hip hop songs to the Disney's Little Mermaid.  It was a pleasure to share Liz and Darren's special day and meet all of their wonderful friends and family.undefined

Liz + Darren's Photo Booth

wedding photo booth in capitola, california Over the weekend, we put up our first photo booth of the year for Liz and Darren's wedding in Capitola.  We did some things differently for their photo booth, which I'll share in a later post, but for now, I wanted to post their movie.  Make sure you watch through to the end so you don't miss Liz's sister Mary's solo dance show! The snippet of a song is "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz.

Nicole + Grant in Manteo, NC

wedding in outerbanks, north carolina by alison yin photography This past weekend, Adm and I headed to the Outerbanks in North Carolina for my dear friend Nicole's wedding to Grant.  This is one of the few weddings we've attended as guests, and so we were super excited to have a fun, non-working weekend with old and new friends to celebrate with Nicole and Grant.  They had a lovely ceremony along the water, and if you've never been to the Outerbanks, then I definitely suggest a trip: the beaches are pristine, they have amazing sand dunes, and there's lots of fun swimming in the ocean (something I never underestimate since I now live in the Bay Area where the ocean waters are FREEZING!).  At any rate, we had the best time getting to play all weekend with some of my closest friends.  In between all the partying, I did snag a few quick photos of Nicole and Grant.  The weekend went by way too quickly, but we're so happy for Colie and Grant.  Congrats you two!  We had the best time and hope you're having an amazing honeymoon!

Amy + Brett Engaged

undefined Longtime followers of the blog may recognize Amy as one of Judith's bridesmaids in Judith and Tom's wedding our very first year.  We are thrilled to be photographing hers and Brett's wedding later this year at Viansa Winery in Sonoma, which is where we met up to do some engagement photos this past weekend.  These two were such troopers to brave the elements because despite the fact that it looks sunny and beautiful, it was actually incredibly windy (and cold) outside.  Then again, they do both live in New York where I'm sure they're used to much more extreme weather.  After taking some photos at the winery, we headed to downtown Sonoma, which is super charming, and made pictures at the Mission.  I'm always a sucker for the rustic feel of all missions in California, and so I loved using the wood beams and textured walls for framing and backdrops.  We can't wait for their October wedding to get back to Viansa and photograph these two with their family and friends!

Little Lu

I'm happy to introduce May Lu, or rather "Little Lu" to everyone.  Momo gave birth in May, and I met up with her, Thay Thay, and the rest of their family for pictures of May Lu when she was one month old!  Of course, Thay Thay hammed it up and was the life of the party, but he's just getting geared up to be the best big brother ever!
