Tammany + Kyle in New Orleans, LA

When I was younger, my everyday outfit consisted of leggings and matching tops from Lands End (thanks, Mom!).  There may or may not have been a pair of lavender corduroy shortalls involved that I may or may not have picked out myself.  As the youngest of three girls on my mom's side, my oldest cousin, Tammany, was always appalled by my fashion choices.  She used to ask her mom (my aunt), "Is Alison ALWAYS going to wear leggings and big t-shirts?!"

So yes, as you've probably guessed by now, the bride of this blog post is my cousin Tammany, whom I've known and loved my entire life.  Her groom, Kyle, has equally endeared himself with our family, and so when they called in June to announce their engagement, we were all ecstatic!

Although I've never planned a wedding myself, I have been around my fair share, and it seems that couples always struggle with creating an event that meets their family's expectations and remains authentic to themselves.  For this reason, I love how Tammany and Kyle got married: they eloped in New Orleans, a place they had never been but always wanted to visit.  And we were lucky enough to come along and photograph it all.  While they might have thought they were planning a wedding just for them, Tammany and Kyle gave Adm and me our dream wedding to photograph:  we drove around New Orleans the day before looking for the perfect ceremony spot (which I would say we found), and they gave us unlimited time for portraits during the best light.  How much better can it get than wandering through the French Quarter and an old cemetery with a completely smitten couple on their wedding day?

Adm and I love these two so much and are so happy for them!  Congratulations, Tam and Kyle!  Your future is so bright and happy and may you be blessed with children who are as fashionable as I once was!

Amanda + Matthew in San Francisco, CA

Amanda and Matt had one of the MOST gorgeous days for their wedding at the Governor's Residence at Fort Mason in San Francisco.  It was so beautiful that it made their portrait session a breeze, not to mention that these two were so in love and just happy to be with each other outside.   I swear we could have wandered around Fort Mason taking pictures all day long.  But, they had a party to get to with friends and family who came from ALL over the country to celebrate.  Almost all of their guests were from out of town, and by the joy and laughter that filled the Governor's Residence, it was pretty evident that Amanda and Matt are dearly loved.

In such an elegant and historical space, their wedding could have easily been an incredibly formal affair, but Matt and Amanda created an event that fit perfectly with their fun and easygoing personalities while still showcasing the beautiful space.  They had barbecue for dinner and kept the dance floor going all night long, plus there were lots of little ones running around to keep the adults on their toes.  Congratulations you two, we wish you all the best!

Reba + Richie in San Ramon, CA

Reba and Richie are the type of people that you want living next door.  They are super fun and all about their family.  When they first came to meet with me, I expected that they might bring their daughter Nina or Reba's mother, so when the door opened and I found that they had twelve family members in tow, I was a little surprised, but quickly learned that that's just how they roll.  As you might expect, that is a lot of people for a consultation, but luckily, I ended getting some help from our dog Kiki.  "How?" you ask, well, Reba and Richie are also Shiba owners and their pup, Kobe, looks just like my little fur ball.  It was an instant connection.

Their wedding was on one of those warm days in late October that we are so lucky to have in the Bay Area.  It took place at the Bridges Golf Course in San Ramon, and as I expected, filled with tons of family and friends who were so happy to celebrate this marriage, one that was eleven years in the making.  Reba and Richie's fun personalities and energy set the tone for their day so that it was just one great party.  Congrats, you two!
