Introducing: CHRIS JORDAN!

I'm so excited and happy to introduce Chris Jordan, my first associate photographer!  Chris has made an informal appearance on the blog since he came through big time as a second photographer for Yen Yen and Davin's and Christy and Miguel's weddings earlier this year (while Adm was having/recuperating from back surgery).  Chris is an incredible photographer - not to brag but he won last year's coveted "Photographer of the Year" award from the San Francisco Bay Area Press Photographer's Association. He's a working journalist, and so you can check out his editorial portfolio here.  In addition to being such a talented photographer, Chris is a super nice guy and a great friend who also happens to live in Oakland.  Chris is also in the process of planning his own wedding to Sara, and so he's particularly conscious of all the details that go into planning the perfect wedding.  Adm and I couldn't be happier to have Chris join  our team!

Below are some sample images by Chris:  To view his full portfolio, please visit www.alisonyinphotographers.com

Celebrating Marriage Giveaway!

Lori of Paper and Thread Studio (a lovely and independent stationery studio) posted this wedding giveaway yesterday (in celebration of Prop 8 being overturned) for one lucky same-sex couple getting married in Southern California.  As soon as Adm and I saw it, we knew we wanted to be involved and somehow show our support for marriage equality.  So, we are happy and excited to announce that we'll be providing wedding photography for the chosen couple.  We're joining a pretty incredible team of vendors so I have no doubt that this is going to be one amazing wedding!

To enter, same-sex couples can email lori@paperandthreadstudio.com.  Please include a picture of the happy couple and tell us a little bit about you and your wedding (including the date) and how winning this giveaway would impact your wedding plans.  Please note that this is open to same-sex couples getting married in the San Diego or Orange County area.

Here is the nice little blurb that Lori had on her blog about the giveaway:

If it isn’t painfully obvious, I love weddings, and I love them mostly because I love “love” and couples in love.  When I heard about the Prop 8 reversal, I wanted to do something to celebrate that fact that love between two people can equal marriage regardless of sexual preference.  Lucky me, I have a few friends that wanted to jump on board too.

One lucky couple will receive:

-up to 100 custom letterpress invitations (designed by Paper and Thread Studio and printed by Cleanwash Letterpress)

-day-of wedding coordination (provided by Swann Soirees)

-complimentary photo booth rental (provided by After the Engagement)

-an engagement photography session (provided by Melissa McClure)

-wedding day photography (provided by Alison Yin)

-personal florals (boutenierre, bouquet) (provided by Floral Occasions)

Introducing: PHOTOSHELTER

During the wedding "off-season," I've spent a significant amount of time researching new products and methods to make my business flow more smoothly and provide the best client experience possible. That said, I'm happy to introduce Photoshelter, which is my new site for online ordering and proofing galleries. I've actually been using Photoshelter since 2006, however mainly for my journalism and editorial work. It seemed like a natural progression to use it for my wedding work as well so that I can better streamline part of the "post-production" process. I think Photoshelter offers a wonderful solution for hosting galleries, showcasing images online and providing easy, user-friendly online ordering.  You can view all of your images large with a slide show as well as very easily create a "lightbox" of your favorite images for creating albums or comparing images when ordering prints. All weddings, engagements and portrait sessions will now be hosted on Photoshelter here.  I am in the process of transferring previous events to Photoshelter, however, you can still find past events on the "old" system here.  Thanks for your patience during this transition!  I'd love to hear any feedback/thoughts on the change!
