The latest edition of San Francisco Brides Magazine is out, and we have four photos in it! Whoohoo! Since diving into wedding photography full-time at the beginning of 2009, one thing that I have not been very good about has been submitting weddings for publication to magazines and blogs. One of my goals for this year is to remedy that, and so this was my first attempt. All of the photos are in the back of the magazine in their "Hitched" section, and while they're only single photos in black and white, I think this is a great step towards getting full wedding features! There's lots of great information in this issue (hint hint brides-to-be) so go check it out, and even if you can't get your hands on a paper copy, you can view the entire magazine online for free here.

After a weekend full of shoots in southern California, we are now cranking away on the editing side. For now, here's a sneak peek of a portrait of Katie and James during their Solana Beach wedding.
When I was little, I used to have a couple of flip books - the main one I remember was of Charlie Chaplin doing a funny dance. Well now, you don't have to be a little kid to carry around a flip book! We have started making flip books of our photo booths - we figured that since we made an
The moment we arrived to Caroline and Kiren's home in Bernal Heights in San Francisco, Caroline greeted us at the door wearing a full-length fuscia evening gown. Have I mentioned that I love it when my clients take extra special care in their wardrobe for their engagement shoots? Well if not, I am now. I think it's fantastic when everyone gets dressed up! Then again, I did used to play dress up all the time when I was a little kid. Anyway, we had such a great time taking photos with Caroline and Kiren around their house, their neighborhood parks (which include an amazing view of San Francisco atop Bernal Hill), and a local bar called the

When we left Oakland headed to Capitola for Liz and Darren's wedding, I had no idea of the outrageously fun wedding and dance party that were in store for us. It had been raining on and off, our photo assistant Marina wasn't feeling well and the overcast Bay Area weather were making this LA native a little gloomy. However, when we arrived, the sun was peeking out from behind the puffy white clouds, the garden at the Monarch Cove Inn had flowers blooming everywhere, and we felt like we were stepping into the Secret Garden, where everything was sunshine and happy. Liz looked absolutely gorgeous, and although she was a little nervous before the ceremony, as soon as she saw Darren, she was all smiles and laughs. We were able to sneak these two away for some portraits on the beach, and they were so sweet and playful with one another.

I have to admit, before we got Kiki (who is my first dog), I used to think it was strange that people let their dogs sleep with them in bed. I mean, they're kind of stinky, they shed, and most dogs are pretty slobbery - it really didn't sound all that appealing. However, within about a week of having Kiki, she completely broke us down and guess who's sleeping right in bed, taking up most of the space? If that isn't bad enough, this past weekend proved that I have definitely crossed the line into "ridiculous dog owner." A few days ago, some friends and I went to a Shiba Inu party in Novato, and for the occasion, I made Kiki a cape so that she could enter the best costume contest. She ended up taking second place, losing out to a dog dressed as Ariel from the Little Mermaid, and to be honest, the cape didn't hold up all that well, especially since it was super wet and rainy. It proved to be way too difficult to take photos of Kiki in her cape while holding onto her, so all of the cape photos are from a separate photo session at home. Here are some photos from the Shiba party:
