Today on the blog I’m sharing some black and white favorites from Alia and Chris’ San Francisco engagement session last fall. Why the black and white? On Tuesday, I had an editorial assignment that requested all black and white portraits of my subject, and it really challenged me to approach it in a very different way. I realized that color is a huge part of what inspires me and trying to think in monochrome made me much more aware of the light, composition and facial expressions. Anyway, so I guess I’m still on the black and white kick and especially since we were treated to some really beautiful light in Alia and Chris’ engagement I think the black and white photos hold up really well. These two are big Andy Goldsworthy fans and so we started the session at two of his noteworthy installations: Wood Line and Earth Wall. Next we headed to the coast for some gorgeous bay views and that stunning light.
