Before each engagement session, we go through a planning process with our couples to make sure we're going to come away with images that reflect them. There is a lot of back and forth between us to get the locations, outfits, all those details just right. Adm and I pride ourselves on how well we plan so that we can do a good job responding to all the little things that can go wrong on engagement shoots and even wedding days.
On the day of Tracy and Frank's engagement, our plan had to compete with reality. The erratic winds of the Marin Headlands caused us to abandon the beach and head back across the bridge. After three stops in the Presidio we were back on track and scurried our way through downtown, chasing the light so we could hit Potrero Hill as the sun went down. We may have broken some traffic laws, but as you can see above, we made it just in time. Tracy and Frank are getting married this summer and if the care and thoughtfulness that went into their engagement session is any indication of the wedding to come, I know we're in for a real treat!

We knew there was something special about Alisha and Alan when they were totally game for having their consultation with us in a dive bar in Woodside. I was a little skeptical at first, but as soon as we all sat down, it was pretty clear we were going to get along great!

We don't normally do this, but the other day, when we were just driving along, we saw this nice looking couple carrying a bunch of cute outfits walking along the side of the road and so we stopped to pick them up. Okay, not exactly, but Ashley and Tom were walking through Crissy Field carrying their clothes when we met up with them for their engagement session. From there on out, it was all fun and games as Ashley and I had to separate Tom and Adm a couple of times since they just wanted to talk about comics, and we all shared the most delicious and exotic milkshakes ever at

I don't know about you, but I love going to the river, drinking wine, photographing in great light, and walking along the waterfront. For most people, all these things would make for a packed weekend, but for Kerri and Kevin, it was just their engagement session. We started in Sausalito for some waterfront pictures near

I have a lovely engagement session to share with you all today! Larabeth and Matt were so fun and patient as we dragged them from one end of San Francisco to another, starting in the Presidio and ending along the Embarcadero by way of North Beach and the batteries overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Larabeth loves design and so we had a great time hopping in and out of different kinds of doorways, garages and side walls as we explored North Beach. These two are running off to Australia for two weeks to combine their wedding (just the two of them) and honeymoon in June - doesn't that sound so romantic? Have the best time ever!

Sometimes I think we've never met a challenge we didn't like. So, when Grace and Michael came to us with the idea to take their wedding on the road, all we could think was how much fun it would be to have an adventure wedding. Besides, it is the perfect wedding for photojournalists because what adventure doesn't make for a great story?
