One of the things I miss most about Southern California, dare I say the only thing I miss (other than the people), is the beach. NorCal beaches, as gorgeous and dramatic as they are, are not lay out and play in the ocean beaches. It's just way too cold up here. So, for the past few years, Adm and I have traveled some place super warm each winter during our wedding season lull. A couple of weeks ago, we went to Baja California in Mexico. The beaches were absolutely perfect, and it was just what I needed to get my ocean fix for a few days.

Amanda and Mike are New Yorkers who love to travel. So, it only seemed fitting for them to get married all the way on the other side of country in one of their favorite destinations, San Francisco. San Francisco also just happens to be across the bay from where Amanda grew up. They could not have asked for a more glorious fall day to have their beautiful wedding at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park.

So, Lena and Alicia know how to throw a wedding. Lena called me on a Tuesday to ask about photographing her wedding the following Tuesday, even though her bride-to-be Alicia hadn't yet confirmed she had the day off from work. Their friends and families totally rallied around them, and you know what, they pulled off one of the best weddings we've been to! Everything about the wedding was personal - they were married by their friend in the park next to their house. Lena rode into the ceremony on her bike with their two dogs by her side, and they partied the night away at their favorite local restaurant, Concetta.

Michele and Devin's story begins with a simple disagreement between Devin's best friend Brian and Michele's little sister Tania. Because she was one of Brian's students, Tania had to listen to him talk everyday about how his friend, Devin, was the best person ever. But Tania knew from experience that her sister, Michele, was the best person ever. Seeing that it was their duty to settle the argument, Brian and Tania set up Michele and Devin on a date. And since we had the honor to photograph Michele and Devin's wedding, I guess they've now earned the title of "best couple ever."
These two were married in September in Livermore and then partied the night away in San Ramon. Normally, the best weather in the Bay Area is during September, it's the height of our summer. But on their day, it poured. Michele and Devin handled the rain like champs, and by the ceremony's end, the sun was out and shining. We loved photographing Michele and Devin not only because they were super sweet and easy to be around, but they also included their pup Moose for a number of photos. Congratulations you two!

Zona + Eric in San Francisco, CA
If I had to choose one place in Golden Gate Park that feels as if you've stepped into a magical story book garden it would be the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers. Add a room full of butterflies emerging daily from their cocoons and I think the magic might even be doubled. What that all comes down to is it's a truly amazing and gorgeous space to explore, make pictures, and celebrate a wedding. Especially Zona and Eric's wedding. These two were so easy to be around, it's as if we had been friends for a very long time. I always think the personalities of the couple sets the vibe for the wedding, and Zona and Eric, who were super relaxed and conscientious of their guests, set a great mood for their wedding. Photographing their celebration was such a treat for us! Thanks so much for having us and we wish you so much laughter and love!
